Why a lathe?
On a wood lathe, a rough blank becomes a useful object through many light passes. Nobody skips straight to the finished vase. We think side work grows the same way: practice, a few honest samples, one small client, careful pricing and, if all goes well, repeat work.
What we publish
Lathe Book publishes free educational pages about organising practice time, building a modest portfolio, pricing small jobs with fees and tax in mind, reading an employment contract before starting, and avoiding offers that ask for money up front.
What we do not do
- We do not sell courses, kits, memberships or coaching.
- We do not promise income or specific results.
- We do not recruit people for any opportunity or platform.
- We do not offer legal, tax or financial advice.
How pages are edited
Each page is written in plain language, checked for clarity and reviewed when rules or common practices change. Numbers in tables are illustrations to explain a method, never forecasts. If you spot an error, email [email protected] and we will review it.
Independence
Lathe Book is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta, Google or any marketplace or payment company mentioned on the site.
